Is Toby dyeing his hair? It appears to be both brown and black.

Last day of my intermediate swim class, they had a diving lesson. The dives off the side I managed fine, but then we had to dive off the starting blocks. I don’t know what happened besides the fact that I never learned to dive as a kid, but I managed to bellyflop hard. I looked like Larry for about a day before it changed to a full-frontal bruise.

My father would consistently belly flop and insist it was a swan dive!

We just have to imagine Larry being injured in the first panel when we re-read it.

The one and only time I tried diving off a high diving board, I landed flat on my back, since I dove with my eyes closed; I was scared looking down at the water from such a height; it wasn’t the only high place that looked lower as I looked UP at it than high when I looked DOWN from it; one house on a hill was like that, when I delivered phonebooks to it in 1996.

Once or twice, I did back dives at the YM-YWCA landing on my stomach from the mid-height diving board, and my teacher said I over-arched.When I dove backward from an apartment complex’s outdoor pool, it was low enough that I didn’t have to consider over-arching my back, for I never jumped from the board, just dove from it. I loved the sensation of entering the water that way.
