“Poppa” Smith once again shows how relevant he is. He’s the expert on space stuff and moon stuff, even if it’s now found just on earth, since no more space travel is possible.

Well, my comment was aimed mostly at Sydney who has been saying that Diet Smith is so irrelevant now that he has to be written out of the strip. I was just commenting that he’s still relevant, even though he doesn’t have spacecraft now.

Y’know…not for nothing but if I were Junior I wouldn’t let Honeymoon go ANYWHERE with Frankenmindy without supervision. After all, it IS Frankenmindy who coveted Honey’s Mother’s life SO MUCH that she wanted to winthe Moon Maid Lookalike Contest AND agreed to have the Lunar DNA spliced onto her human DNA…not to mention taking her mother’s name as well.

by “being gradual” gweedo, do you mean taking over a YEAR to give birth to a baby, or maybe you mean aying WELL OVER A YEAR AGO that youd be brininging back a character AND finally giving him a name..but yet we’ve seen neither hide nor hair of him, or do you mean having a secondary character (that, ironically enough, works WITH the main characters wife) get a beatdown almost FOUR MONTHS AGO and never have ANYONE wonder about it on panel at all, with the exception of two sentences in a backhand comment, and THEN having them suddenly reappear all healthy and out of the hospital on vacation? or do you mean taking over three months to drag out quite possibly one of the most boring stories in current strip history by having tracy brainwashed on an island just of the coast of tracyville, or maybe its taking over a year to finally resolve what Frankenmindy was, or maybe its shooting three villains off into space and totally forgetting they exist?

Junior must be very pleased to have Mysta watching out for Honeymoon. He was utterly clueless as to the changes and worries that had his daughter so troubled. Mysta knew. “It’s what we spoke about, isn’t it, Imoto-Chan?” Mysta has become Honeymoon’s close friend. With assurances that all will be well, she comforted Honeymoon when she was hurting. In the aftermath of the bullying incident at the mall, Mysta takes Honeymoon to Diet Smith for consultation. There is no one better to look out for Honeymoon than the woman who is more like Moon Maid with each passing day. The third panel is especially telling, as Mysta watches over her young friend.

Junior should have his parental rights taken away from him for allowing his daughter to be near Looney Moonie Mindy! She’s totally unstable!

Mysta is not the same person she was before the DNA splicing occurred. As we’ve seen, she is becoming steadily less human and more lunarian.I question if she even has any of Mindy’s memories.Calling her Mindy isn’t vaguely accurate, and to blame her for Mindy’s past only complicates the story needlessly.

Being afraid of harming another is the sign of a good person. I took self-defence, and even have a CnC, but I’m extremely afraid I’ll have to use this ultimately. Thankfully, I was blessed by an excellent self-defence instructor. For he said in essence "Be afraid to use your skills, but do not hesitate, for the enemy will not.)

These strips currently appear in newspapers so, I wanna know why or who makes the rules on how many panels.

I’m sure it’s totally up to the artists and writers of each strip how they break up their space into panels. Dick Tracy is typically three panels because Staton and Curtis want it that way. Things are left unsaid, not really because there’s no fourth panel to put them in, but because Mike figures that there’s no point saying things that are obvious to anyone reading. That would only serve to drag the story out.

I have seen no examples of instability. Where did I have seen no examples of instability. Where did you find this instability?.Barging into someone’s house at the wee hours of the morning when everyone is sleeping because you had a bad dream is a sign of stability?

Aside from that, there are details that Gould included (particularly violence) that just aren’t permitted anymore by newspaper readers. Ultimately, it’s the readers who decide what’s allowed. When they start cancelling the newspaper, the strip can become a liability for the papers that carry the strip.

Nearly two years have passed since Mysta learned about her past. During this time, there has been no sign of mental breakdown. No sign of her old identity popping up. No sign of her using her powers with malignant intent. All evidence suggests that Mindy is gone forever, and that Mysta has cheerfully embraced her new life, her transformed body, and her identification with the lunar race.Mysta isn’t bitter about the terrible things the Blackhearts did to her, and seems intent only on finding her way in the world. She has friends. She has her own apartment. She’s done some acting. She’s become a writer. She has a life.Regarding Honeymoon, everything we’ve seen indicates Mysta has only honorable intentions. She didn’t force her way into Honeymoon’s life, but sought Junior and Sparkle’s permission to spend time with their daughter. We have no reason to doubt that she is only trying to help Honeymoon navigate a difficult transformation, a transformation she is uniquely qualified to understand. Junior, Sparkle, and Tracy care more about Honeymoon than anyone else, and if they had any doubt about Mysta’s intentions, we can be confident they wouldn’t let her go anywhere near their daughter/granddaughter.All that said, I’m baffled by the relentless sniping about Mysta being “unstable” and “creepy,” and the suggestions that she is an evil person.Mysta was the victim of terrible crimes. She was cruelly violated, both physically and mentally. Yet in spite of all the unspeakable abuse she’s had to endure, she’s made peace with her situation and has come up smiling. The people closest to her are sympathetic and supportive. Why do some of you not get that? Why are you only interested in maligning her? Why do you have no understanding or regard for her unique plight?Take this for what it’s worth, but when it comes to Mysta, do you know who some of you remind me of? TJ and Beverly. Blinded by prejudice. Lashing out in hate. Using insults and slurs to demean others. Showing no sympathy for those who are different. Bullies. I hope for your sakes you aren’t like this in real life.

Honeymoon is worried, confused, nervous about the changes that her very singular puberty is bringing about in her. Her telepathic soulmate, Mysta Chimera, the one person closest to her in terms of her Lunarian heritage, has come to help her. They seek out renowned capitalist Diet Smith, who almost single-handedly though his R & D capabilities brought about Earth’s First Encounter with Lunarians. —This all seems reasonable and logical. Diet’s advice seems gruff, as is his wont, but it should be helpful to young Honeymoon.Today’s developments are hopeful….

I’ve stayed clear of today’s controversy mostly because I do not want to get involved and because I have been otherwise busy. I enjoy seeing Mysta and Diet Smith. We must remember that this is not the real world. We come here for entertainment and Mike Curtis, Joe Staton, et al certainly are providing with plenty of that!

I wouldn’t be so quick to thinks we have seen the last of the Selenites.

It wouldn’t surprise me if we never see them again. On the other hand, if there’s enough demand for it, we may. I believe that Mysta Chimera was not originally meant to be a continuing character, but reader reaction convinced Mike to rewrite the ending of her story. He hasn’t told us that in so many words, but it was strongly hinted at in some remarks he made.

With today’s strip backing me up, I must respectfully disagree.

I found the the Patrick Macnee autograph I was talking about a couple of days ago. It’s a bit late now, but I thought I’d throw it in here near the end of the day.

I can’t remember if Diana Rigg was also there. It seems to me that someone was with Patrick but my mind kind of went blank after I said the wrong thing to him. In any case, I don’t seem to have a Diana Rigg autograph.
