June: I've been going to Dr. Green for years. He's always been nice and friendly. He's always taken an interest in my stories... But today he couldn't be bothered! It's like I was a stranger! What's happening to us?? Ralph: Maybe you two should consider counseling!

Oh, for the good old days when your “family” doctor actually knew your family.

My doctor is a great guy but now he is required to type an essay into computer while he is meeting with you. So much for personal attention. BTW he hates having to spend his short time with you that way.

I feel Opal’s pain. I used to have doctors that were very friendly. When all the new laws came about – most of them retired.

Thank goodness the government bureaucrats are running/ruining our lives, in every way. Just don’t know what I would do if I lived in a free country.

An interesting contrast to my Canadian doctor, who not only listened and treated our family’s medical problems, but had me critique his papers before submitting them to major medical journals (with which he papered his waiting room walls after publication). He practiced both before and after the Douglas plan came to BC and said, “I can’t see that I practice medicine any differently now that I no longer worry about being paid.”

@zippycatsThat is really creepy! I probably don’t want to hear what he is saying about me.

Thanks to the reimbursement/payment policies of the insurance companies, doctors are now on a timer in order to make enough money from insurance payments to stay open. It’s not as if he doesn’t care…he doesn’t have time to care. It’s all about MONEY, not about health care. You want health care—it’s up to you to stay healthy so that you don’t have to deal with that crap. It’s a mill that only wants to “diagnose and adios” and then treat rather than cure. If they cure things, they don’t get paid anymore. If they treat things, they get “evergreen income” by having you come back for tests, visits, advise, tests, visits, advise, over and over and over.
