Ralph: Wally! No barking!

Ralph: Wally! I said no barking! What part of "no barking" do you not understand?
Wally: The "no" and the "barking."
I have no problem with cats, but dogs are ostensibly much smarter: they can learn more words, have larger brain sizes, are bettter at IQ tests and are much more social (which stimulates and helps develop the brain).
We have both cats and dogs. The dogs are far more social and respond to more phrases – “go outside,” “throw the ball,” “go for a ride,” “walk to the mailbox,” “take a nap,” “supper,” and the ever-favorite “hotdog.” The cats come when we call their names, but that is about it. I perceive dogs are like having affectionate 2-year-old children in the house, and cats are more like surly teenagers.
What benefits society more, dogs or cats? We hear of rescue dogs, police dogs, service dogs for the blind or deaf. Never heard of a rescue cat, police cat or service cat.
I have heard of a cat in a nursing home that is pretty good at predicting death. My guess is though that the cat is just hungry and patiently awaiting the demise of Aunt May.

Dogs are dumb. Get a cat! (I don’t mean the Drabbles — they already have Oogie.)

Cats and dogs are precisely as intelligent as they need to be. Sadly, this cannot be said for humans.

@ WDemBik: “All 3 of our cats have been taught to shake hands, but may or may not do it.”
That’s not the definition of training.
