Its HOT here too! 90+ temps all next week and into the next too! We’ve never had weather like this, ever!Maybe I’ll try dressing like a “cool cat”, Think that would help?
Queen Dale and I agree with you, we are in our late 70s (what!) and while we would love to have a cat (or dog) it wouldn’t be fair if something would happen to us, Not sure if son would take an animal (he has a super full life, with 3 kids deep into music) and daughter has a dog. So we love on the dog when she comes over, and she loves her nana and pop pop! She gets excited when they tell her she is coming to visit. and she spends most of the time sitting on my lap.I feel like I’m the grandma to all of your darlings!
Hot up here in Everett too guys! I wish we would have a solid week of straight down Washington rain!! It would help quench the forest fires that are beginning to start up. I know all you Mid West and East coasters will say we don’t know what hot is. Oh yes we do! I lived in Virginia for 11 years. We also don’t have air conditioned homes (most of us) but where I work is air conditioned. Too bad I don’t work weekends. What am I saying!? The heat must be getting to me! Stay cool!
@Wet & SoggyI guess that pic means I am a crazy cat lady, because when Yum Yum meows, both Paul and I answer her!! He was not a cat person when I met him, he used to (and still does, facetiously) say he hates cats. Funny thing, as soon as he sits down, guess who crawls into his lap, curls up and goes to sleep?
There are 3 things that EVERYONE here has: 1. a/c – it’s not an option 2. sprinkler systems 3. pest control companies on contract (unless you LIKE scorpions and bugs. Which we do not)
I feel for you west coast TC readers. Here in the Ohio Valley, it is in the 60’s. It will be in the 70’s all this week with rain forecast for every day making at least 10 days of rainfall. Wish we could send some of that to the west coast where it is needed.
Usually it’s hot here in the Catskills, I would be out mowing today, if it were not for the fact it has rained since yesterday morning and not stopped. I’ve had to put on the heat a little and a hoodie. Even the catties have been cuddled up on the fleece blanket with Barbara.55 degrees and rainy is quite chilly even for folks used to the long winters
Update on Tux: I talked to his new mom. They adore him and could not have asked for a more perfect addition to their family. He likes to watch tv. He LOVES head rubs. He went under their bed last night and her husband laid on the floor to talk to him and fell asleep. When he woke up, Tux was asleep on the bed in HIS spot.
The sick babies with Susan are doing remarkably well. She took them to the vet this morning (this is a really small town and she asked the tech if she could even tho the office is closed) to get more fluids. They no longer have the runs.
News on Precious. What I found out this morning from the tech at the vets is the best news I could have ever gotten. When they did blood work on Precious the other day, the kidney indicators would have been ignored as being normal for a six year old cat, except she was not responding to the antibiotic she had been on for a week. If I would have taken her in, told them she was healthy but just wanted blood work done for the hell of it, they would have looked at these numbers and would have agreed that she was perfectly healthy. That means that they figure the numbers are because she was a little stressed because of the infection rather than there being a problem with her kidneys. That means that now getting the numbers down with the flushing of the fluids and her responding to the antibiotic, she should be as good as new when I bring her home. You have no idea how that makes me feel. I am so relieved! Buster was in a “mood” this morning, so he must have known.I’m to call them about 10 or 10:30 in the morning and by then the vet will have decided the course of action. They will have maybe taken another blood test by then.I didn’t sleep but about two hours last night. The way I feel now, I may take a nap. :-) :-) :-) Thank you all for the support you have given. It has helped get me through this trying time
Big Man is going for some dental surgery tomorrow morning. The vet found his remaining upper front tooth was very inflamed during his check up last week. He might have to have it out. Hope not. It’s supposed to get hot here in the UK by midweek – 80 at least. Ice cream weather!
Blissful Sunday afternoon everyone.-——@Ppyfss: Glad to here the good news about Precious.-——@QueenofAmerica: good news indeed about Tux and the sick babies.-——Be well my friends.
Pam I am relieved! We worry right along with you.Queen We’re also relieved about Tux. Dale laughed when I told him I almost made him drive me down there, He said he probably would have had to do it, to keep WW4 away! LOL
Big Man had to have most of his back teeth out a few years ago because of calicivirus, but he bounced back. I was in Boston at the time and Chris had to deal with it on his own (first time for my cat guy) but he handled it admirably.
Great to hear that Tux has settled in so quickly and so well. I am so glad to hear that the kittens are doing well with Susan, the work that you both do in helping these cats is truly an inspiration.
I wanted to finish up my outside chores today so I could start the 30 days of doxycycline tomorrow. I painted a big galvanized tin trash can blue. I washed my mailbox and painted it metallic blue. I washed dishes and loaded what I could in the dishwasher…that was mostly to get my hands clean from the spray paint. :) I snipped bits of vines off the steps I am clearing, and swept them clear. I dug up the edges of my sidewalk where Juju walks out into the yard so she would not trip over the 4" tall weeds. I loaded the dirt to carry over to the area where my ATV made grooves in the yard and filled them in. I assembled a float valve for the horses’ water trough, drove to the big barn and got it attached and working. Gave the horses some carrots while I was there. I came in to cool off and sewed down a big hem on a curtain for my bedroom. Did three or four loads of laundry after going though storage boxes looking for cooler clothes (that included dog laundry). At 6 I fed the dogs and took the mule down to the garden and planted a row of tomatoes. That took 45 minutes. Then I parked the mule and tightened the water valve on the donkeys’ water trough. I cut down a big unruly bush of Blue star of Texas so I could get into the shed easier. Although the day was relatively cool, I was in a total sweat by this time. So I had a shower and washed my hair (lots of lukewarm water on the head to cool me down). I also got a new hummingbird feeder cleaned and put up mid afternoon (raccoons broke the older one), and put up a suet cake holder that is squirrel and raccoon proof (at least it is supposed to be), we will see. I had soup for dinner that I was thankful for as I was too tired to cook. At 8 pm I sat out on the porch and let the dogs have a good ramble around the yard. It felt quite nice out tonight. I probably missed a few things on my list; tomorrow before the doxy gets me all sun sensitive, I have to plant 6 milkweed plants (for the monarch butterfly to lay eggs on); 2 Butterfly bushes, two pineapple sages, 1 Black and Blue Salvia, 6 light blue salvia and finish up a basket garden. My advice to all my friends….beware of ticks…they will make your life miserable.
Ppyfss said, You have no idea how that makes me feel. I am so relieved!
I do know how you feel, Girl! Not exactly, of course, because no one can ever understand another’s heart and soul, but we have both been there, and I Hope it helps you to know that I kind of sort of know how you feel! AND SO GLAD THE NEWS IS GOOD!
I have a native batch over across the road in the horse pasture….about 20’ in diameter. I am trying to get it started over here in the garden area. Asclepias tuberosa, often called butterfly weed. I am planting starts of Asclepias incarnate for this side of the road.
