    Steve, I’m afraid I have to call out your “wrong moon” in this comic.The illuminated edge of the moon, no matter what the phase or which hemisphere you’re in, is ALWAYS the edge closest to the sun! So, for the upper edge of a rising or setting crescent moon to be lit, the sun would have to be ABOVE the moon, i.e., HIGH in the sky! And it wouldn’t be dark out!…A “full moon” is “fully” lit up, because it is exactly on the opposite side of the Earth from the sun (at opposition), rising as the sun sets. So the lit-up side IS “closest to the sun.”
