And they’ve changed “Smokey Bear’s” name.He was Smokey THE Bear, because he was a bear, and they named hims Smokey.

There was a song written about him.

“Smokey, the bear; Smokey, the bear,Prowlin’ and a’growlin’ and a’sniffin’ the air.He can find a fire before it starts to flame. That’s why they call him Smokey,That is how he got his name.”

When Yellowstone blows (though it might not be for 5000 years) it will make Mt. St. Helens look like a kid popping a pimple by comparison.

I’ve always believed that a certain Jimmy Buffett song foreshadowed the eruption of Mt. St. Helens.

Donald Trump’s ego is so large, it ought to have its own ZIP Code.

@RadarRecon, Wikipedia says that the name was originally “Smokey Bear” and the “the” was added to make the song’s rhythm flow. Since then, both have been common, though I always knew him as Mr. The Bear.

I fail to see the sense in giving a ZIP code to a fictional character who’s not associated with a particular place.

Coincidentally, the President’s birthday was just 5 days ago.

Back in the fourth grade, I remember reading a story titled, “The Whimper Heard Across the Nation,” and it was about a bear cub’s whimper being heard by firefighters battling a forest fire. Yes, it was about a bear who eventually would be known as Smokey the Bear.
