Our kids fought over the family hammock, and we knew it would be a bone of contention until: 1) they grew up, or 2) one of the trees fell down. In a storm one night, the problem was solved; the bigger of the two trees was uprooted and had to be removed. The irony was that both kids were grown and gone by then.
I know that the kids actually grew up in this strip; but Lizzie especially seems to have aged considerably in a very short span of time. Or did a couple years of strips get dropped from the recycling?
There is a significant amount of growth that happens around Kindergarten. My youngest just finished that year.
In preschool, they are learning but very babyish and home centered. By the end of Kindergarten (Lizzie’s age), they are speaking mostly like kids, thinking like kids, aware of trends and friend conflicts and just so much more. It’s amazing to watch!

This has nothing to do with that storyline… it’s a stand-alone Sunday strip.

Lizzie’s new nickname should be “Karma.”
