Slugged him good she did!

I like the “Mom” pic overseeing everything in the middle panel, and the moon pic in the background of panel three. Joe Staton adds so many great details to his scenes, and his work on the strip just gets better and better.

Annie came from the fridge with armfuls of stuff like Dagwood always does, but she didn’t make a Dagwood sandwich because she was using sliced bread.

Annie slugged the bully! (or at least former bully)

A quick two days to establish Annie’s characterization for those who came in late, plus to potentially foreshadow a coming “Clobberin’ Time” moment.

Joe and Shelley are having fun drawing Annie today.

Hadn’t realized that Honeymoon and Astor were that close.

Note that “Son of Spike” is on Honeymoon’s computer monitor in panel two.

Honeymoon seems to be shedding an awful lot of sparks these days. You have to wonder if it is messing with people’s TV reception. Mysta was too in recent strips.

It looks like a girlie comic strip. Love it! I appreciate some cute gals amid the grotesques.

Team Tracy has, I think, caught the essence of tweenager girl-talk quite well. The developing interest in boys and little, first hesitant steps towards romance coupled with the ritual aversion (expressed by Annie) at the same time….It is a tranquil moment of character development. Trouble in Tracytown will intervene soon enough.

Almost kissed her? I see sparks flying.

Morning, Tracyville!

I don’t think think the two girls are quite on the same page in their emotional development. Honeymoon seems to have reached that “boy-crazy” age, but Annie is still in that “boys-yuch” stage.

Also, I think the “Son of Spike” is a reference to the Spike Spangler story in the 1943 Little Orphan Annie. That’s the story where Annie met Jocko.

Good thing Annie’s not a bully!

I love Joe’s rendition of Annie. Allen Kupperberg and Ted Slampyak were good, too, I’m not slighting them in the least. But Joe brings a fresh new look at an historical character.

Honeymoon is gaining Power….i Love You Moon Maid!!

The eyes of Mysta watch over the girls. Girls just want to have fun…and sandwiches. Is Annie making a face in panel 2 in response to the “mush,” or did she add one too many layers to her sandwich? Dagwood makes it look so easy, but anything is possible in the funny pages. Enjoying Annie’s visit and Honeymoon’s exciting changes. You go, girls!

So now we’re just reviewing things that happened in a different comic strip.

Actually, we’re not. Annie is describing something that happened “off camera” that was not in the story. Just like Honeymoon’s story about herself and Astor.

The ACE TOWER a CONVERGING POINT ?

WelL I guess, Mike has pressed the “pause” button on HIS multiple ‘mini stories/sequences’ - to turn the camera on WHERE I suspect they’ll ALL eventually come together ?

That’s the Ace Tower they introduced last Friday (the10th), with the 2 lower floors housing a Museum and the rest occupied by the Blackhearts Gang with the top floors reserved exclusively for . . . Mr.Bigg (aka Mr. Bribery}

As we’ve just noted, a new insider plot right there, seems to be fermenting, instigated by a disgruntled Méliés One that includes kidnapping Diet Smith (to get a Space Coupe ?)

Then . . .As I recall, these are the secondary story lines we’ve been following . . .

1) Diet Smith seems fated to be taken there to Mr. Bribery

2) The Authorities. With a kidnapping of Diet, “Slumber-land is Over” . . . Tracy, the MCU.and FBI) will finally “Wake Up” The Ace Tower, among the first places likely to be searched?

3) The developing powers of Honeymoon (Annie by her side) with a reason to go to the Ace Tower ? Possibly the Museum floors ?An opportunity for the coming out of her full powers in some unexpected emergency (to Save the Day?)It will likely co-inside nicely (along the way) with Annie’s 91st Anniversary of being in the comic strips (Aug 5, 2015)

4) Tellum if partially involved (?) might happen by for part of his at the wrong time when the heat is on.

5) Adnois will likely be there (back from Florida) but his scenario is a ‘Wild Card* - maybe something unique or simply, just there, as ’Dust in our Eyes’

6) The now almost forgotten Axelrod (David?) the consultant, will be along, as he still remains the most logical individual to have done the delivery to Mr, B, which has to be explained by ‘wrap up’ time !

7) Notta Chin Chilla’s appearance ‘once again,’ - seems just a ‘temporary distraction’ for readers to wonder ‘where’(?) she ‘fits’ in ? (not unlike - the Adonis “card” ?)Suspect, her appearance was just a reminder that a Full Story will come for “her” (and Purdy?) at centre stage. at some later date (?)

Who’s the real bully? It sounds like Annie is abusive.

I don’t know that you could classify Annie as a “bully” based on hitting a guy who tried to kiss her. It may well have been an over-reaction, but it could also be considered “self-defense.” I could stretch that to “bullying” based on a single incident, which it sounds like it is.

The official site with the first high resolution picture (taken 16 hours before closest approach) is at http://pluto.jhuapl.edu. The craft was furiously gathering photos and other data as it went past and it will take 16 months to send all of it back to Earth. If it hits debris the size of a grain of rice it will be destroyed, but such bits of debris are widely scattered. If it survived the fly-by, it should be transmitting a message at 9 pm ET tonight.

Not to be a wet blanket, but is there absolutely any reason at all for today’s strip, really? ?Adolescent girls talking “He put his arm around me” “We almost kissed”, etc. What’s in store for us tomorrow….three panels about how hot Justin Bieber is, lol?

Except for Dick Tracy that is a pathetic list of nominees. I never cared for Dilbert or Fox Trot and Get Fuzzy shouldn’t be eligible if it’s primarily reprints. Looks like a easy win for Tracy but you never know. The ones who have the votes could throw a wrench into this yet. Do they allow write-in votes? Anyway, there are many other strips that are much better than this group. It’s like Tracy is in a class by itself.

I’ve been interested in the data coming from the New Horizons spacecraft at Pluto also. I still consider Pluto a regular planet and it’s about time it got some attention, It’ll be awhile before we find more planets in the Kuiper Belt to visit. Still have many moons of the Gas Planets to explore though. I wonder if it’s possible that our lost Space Coupe got a gravity assist from Jupiter and wound up at Pluto? Wouldn’t that be funny if the Space Coupe wound up in New Horizons’ photos? Even funnier if it found the lunarians at Pluto?

The Washington Post cancelled Get Fuzzy due to the high rate of reruns. “Conley’s syndicate has provided The Post with no specific reason why “Get Fuzzy” has a high rerun rate.”
