Work is love made visible. BAKERY And if you cannot work with love… …but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work… GRUMBLE GRUMBLE …and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy. For if you bake bread with indifference… FLOUR …you bake a bitter bread that feeds but half man’s hunger. And if you grudge the crushing of the grapes… …your grudge distills a poison in the wine. And if you sing through angels, and love not the singing… …you muffle man’s ears to the voices of the day and the voices of the night. - Kahlili Gibran

Expect in this day and age where work is scarce and bills are many and frequent we just have to take what work we can get whether we like it or not.

I finally can say I like my job. I had to work for 10 years at a job I didn’t like to get it, bit it was worth it.

I have been doing the same job for 34 years and counting.I lay my life on the line everyday but I have a fulfilment I cannot describe. In three more years or so I will put up my gun and badge.I will love the not laying my life on the line but I will miss the job.I plan on becoming a part time grease monkey at the local Jiffy Lube…….

Sounds like it could have come from the book of Proverbs

The message is to find joy within yourself and let it radiate through your work. Gibran is not advising quitting and taking alms.Veteran sounds like he infuses his work with a quiet joy. I think he heard Gibran before he ever heard of him.

I see there is now a movie based on “The Prophet”. Probably only to be shown in the art theaters.
