Comedy is one thing. Blue Humor is another. Which is what George Carlin and Richard Pryor did. I’m sorry they’re no longer with us, I’m not sorry for the kind of humor they did.

Much of Carlin’s work was on the highly censored broadcast TV, and it endures, from the breakout Al Sleet, to the comeback A Place for Your Stuff; the political satire to the inconsistencies of grammar and culture (oxymorons and Baseball vs. Football). Stuff that will outlast us, the survivors.

Bravo, Gavin! You continue to inspire the young, and the children within us struggling to emerge. Kudos and thumbs up, to Carlin, Pryor, to Keillor and Dave Barry, and all those visionary jester coyotes who make life fascinating & worthwhile & not just soldierly grinds of quiet desperation for so many! :-D

Eleanor was as much a social rebel without the filth and she certainly influenced the world much more. I think Pryor and Carlin got in their own way a lot. Lenny Bruce had already done the vulgarity thing; it was just boring after that. Carlin did do a lot of other really funny stuff, which I loved.
