I hope Bird is secretly living in the basement.

On the other hand, a leaky faucet would explain the water bill, and a leaky outlet…

    Power? Water?

Gee, Skeezix, could it possibly be that it’s summer, not winter, and therefore they’ve been using the air conditioner and the lawn sprinkler?

Are you sure it wasn’t coming FROM your neighbors? Got any teen-age kids?

rmbdot, you’re right. The AC really spikes the electic bill. But Lewreader’s suggestion would make a more interesting story line and that’s what we need.

Walt has started taking showers again and decided he didn’t want to do it in the dark.

Back in August 2004, when Walt’s granddaughter Eve was previous caregiver, we last saw her being carted off to jail with Walt and her biker pals. Perhaps she sneaked back and has been living in Walt’s basement for the last six years?

Or, maybe this is where her brother Nubbin has been? Or their cousin Gabriel Grubb (Judy’s son) ? For that matter, where has Corky’s wife, Hope, been hiding?

Or, maybe that crooked Senator Bobble has been tapping the lines?

Or, maybe Little Orphan Annie is hiding there, so she won’t be carted off to the Old Comic Characters Home?

@HectorPriam, back on Nov. 6, 2004, Walt had gone on another jaunt and ended up in the cemetery with Gertie in pursuit.

They were holding onto a statue of an angel and some construction workers plucked it into the air. The statue, along with Walt & Gertie, crashed in the mausoleum of Uriah (“Money is the Root of All”) Pert. Sitting inside, counting Pert’s millions, were Jessica and Wilmer Bobble.

All of a sudden, E. Van Shrewder III, attorney for Don L. Thump, shows up. He claims that his client owns the land under Pert’s tomb and therefore owns the contents of the tomb. The story ended on Nov. 26, 2004, with Shrewder in possession of Pert’s fortune.

Although, I had another thought that the power & water could be purloined by Slim’s swindler mother Lil Skinner.

Okay, most of us agree someone is secretly living in the basement, we just disagree on who it is… if not Earl, maybe NotNorman?
