For many years, I didn’t think much of Washington, due to the things being written about what a bad general he was, but now I am very, very glad he was in the position he was at the time he was. Due in great part to him, the Continental Army and the many Militias (eventually with France’s help) won the war despite losing most of the battles, and against the finest fighting force the world had ever seen. And not only that, he refused the title of King, which would have put America on a far different course.
