It would be even more enjoyable if there was some place to sit…

Only if you’re in love with your own voice.

    Morning, Marg!

Susan’s not here yet, on this wonderful and rather rare Memorial Day tribute on the comic pages.

    Good morning….

Sorry I was missing…. and thanks for noticing, Grog.

Welcome all, to comment on the May 25th  2020 “CLEO and COMPANY”   on Sherpa….

It’s a Memorial Day tribute to dogs that go to war.

Poor dogs…. they neither choose that life, nor understand war…

but they do understand loyalty and obedience,

and have a greater capacity for both than do most humans.

Thank you, brave doggies… I appreciate what you’ve done.

If I could only have my way, neither you, nor any humans, would ever have to make that sacrifice again.

@nighthawks or anyone… Where is that memorial located. I’m thinking Lackland AFB but I could be way off.

Anyone with FB… Let’s post the Cleo link to “public” and get it rolling around the interwebs.

@Plods: The memorial that we included today is located in Barrington, New Hampshire. Here is some more information:

    http://www.vdha.us/content15659.html

There are many memorials dedicated to those superhero dogs in the military around the country. If you’re interested in looking at more, just do an image search, typing in something like: “war dog memorials”, and so many will come up. What’s not easy (but not impossible) is trying to find information about each one.

Now that I know where this particular memorial is located, and since I live in Western Massachusetts, I am planning to drive up there (when the pandemic crisis has lessened) to see it in person. Thanks for asking about the location. I’m now looking forward to visiting the site.

(P.S. If you use the above link, you can see a few more pictures of the monument by clicking the arrows below the photo that’s included on their site.)

@Plods : I just realized that if you go to the link that I provided in my above comment, and then click on “Memorials” in the header, it will bring you to a page of War Dog Memorials that are all over the country. No need to do an extra search, as most are all there.
