i use it when i absolutely have to. i don’t want to build up a tolerance for it and have it stop working. it’s a fine balance.

I had a friend who was a bursar at a school, but I don’t believe he suffered from bursitis. Although I could understand getting bursitis in the elbow of his check signing arm.

He just doesn’t want to admit that he’s flown in all the way from the La Brea Tar Pits, and boy, are his wings tired…

Good morning everyone. This one is not funny. I just do not see any humor in pain.

Although too many Perry Mason reruns will do it, too.

Bursitis is an Inflammation of a Bursa. A Bursa is a sac or saclike bodily cavity, especially one containing a viscous lubricating fluid and located between a tendon and a bone or at points of friction between moving structures.

I think what he means is his turtle / skateboard is broken… Although he looks kinda inflamed in the last panel.

Yeah, not sure about the humor in this one. It does remind me that my kids and I saved two baby turtles this week and put them back in the lake. One was in the middle of the street and the other was upside down being played with by a crow. Hopefully we helped because it sure felt good.

thanks Joe makes more sense to me now. especially since i usually hear of bursitis in shoulders or elbows - which would be analogous to areas on a bird’s wing.

The most common examples of bursitis are:

Prepatellar bursitis, “housemaid’s knee”, Infrapatellar bursitis, “clergyman’s knee”, Trochanteric bursitis giving hip pain, Olecranon bursitis characterised by pain and swelling in the elbow, and Subacromial bursitis, which gives shoulder pain.

I would like to put my two cents in here. I think he was trying to combine “Bird” and “Sites” (or sighting). Probably no pun on the actual word “Bursitis”.

Limping or using a cane to get up turtle’s shell would’ve helped the visual. Me, I use a cane. Bursitis isn’t very funny.

Birds usually fly. If not, they have a wing problem, which the bursitis joke would explain. Just because you have an ailment doesn’t mean you can’t find humor in it.
