The sign doesn’t say what time the music starts………… how many fine ales are necessary before the food is fine…. all beyond the comprehension level of Andy and ’is pals…

One of my major gripes when I worked in Ireland and England was the late opening hours and early closing hours of the pubs. Very often, my work required me to work at night. all night. Good luck trying to get a bite to eat after midnight or a pint at 7am ! Like any other obstacles, these could be overcome but not without a lot of bother. It was one of the reasons I liked working in New York – the city never shut down.
Many years ago (about 40) I made a business trip to Japan. I was assigned an interpreter and guide. He was European, Swiss I think, and fluent in Japanese, English and many other languages. One day we were on a train on our way to our job site and were sitting directly across from a Japanese couple. They were looking at us and saying things like “look at those stupid westerners with their round eyes – why are they here in our country anyway?” Apparently they had no idea that one of us was understanding every word. When we arrived at our station my friend thanked them in fluent Japanese for sharing an enjoyable trip … etc. They were speechless.
@waykirk1: You are very welcome my friend. Those people (the ones who aren’t metally ill) are IMHO under an evil influence. Due in part to some people trying to remove God from everything. We reap what we sow. Have a peaceful night.

Could this pub’s food be better than Flo’s and the music better than Guitar Bob’s?

if they have to emphasis it, it’s probably not true, and I think Andy doesn’t need to be reminded as to when the pub opens!

Guitar Bob comes by at 5 o’clock, Andy. Still plenty of time to drink in peace.
