This is becoming seriously weird. Aaron Neathery could give David Lynch a run for his money! I’m guessing this is a manufactured dream, courtesy of Aaron Marx, and that’s an avatar of Marx he’s talking to.
Roll up, roll up for the Mystery TourRoll up, roll up for the Mystery TourRoll up (And that’s an invitation), roll up for the Mystery TourRoll up (To make a reservation), roll up for the Mystery TourThe Magical Mystery Tour is waiting to take you awayWaiting to take you away …
The depth Aaron goes into with his characters and stories is amazing. It’s also downright painful when only served three times a week. I understand why, it’s just difficult to wait for answers that only ask more questions. Not that I could quit following the story if I wanted to.
As I mentioned at the end of the previous comments section, Aaron N. has a monthly newsletter he sends out to his Patreons. In the most recent issue he talked about the “thing” Jim had connected into after schisming.Anyone else here get that newsletter? Because there’s a big hint in panel 4. (And, it’s a safe bet that the “thing” is on the other end of the line right now. It’s not “God”, per se…)
It’s quite possible the thing that Jim connected into is a new form of life. We have seen many different kinds of mutations so far. But obviously not all…Yet.My guess, there is a being, out of phase with the world of Endtown. It can see all permutations of reality,it can see the infinite, it can see the probable.More importantly it can see inside your soul! Our misdeeds and sins must look like black stains to it.Since all we see and feel is merely a manifestation of electromagnetism.Everything,,Even light itself..What we can see with our eyes is but a hair on the spectrum of energy. This thing, is not confined within an organic prison. It is pure energy, and it is connected to all energy. What it sees, and feels would drive us mad.Perhaps it has been driven mad in the process as well.Imagine every radio, every TV, everything that can present information to you.Every one of those things, all channels, stations, headlines coming in at once. And trying to make sense of it…Omnipotence has a terrible price..If there is a “G-d”, if this this thing is “G-d”, he must be seriously twisted and crazy…Hmm…Come to think of it, that may explain a few really messed up things about our reality..
Are our intrepid explorers going to shrink down to a tiny size, get a really tiny submarine, and take a Fantastic Voyage through the portal of the eyeball?
Perhaps we should look at the eye as “all-seeing” which might mean that Wally is getting a dream warning from Aaron that the drones are still up there and can see them.
The teacher is a woman that Wally met in the past, when he was working for a military supplier named Apex in someplace named Bordavia. Wally was working as a civil engineer and a soldier and had worked on designing a school with the teacher. The teacher trusted Wally and showed him the less than savory things Apex was up to. Apex sent Wally’s squad to raid the teacher’s house, gunning down the teacher and her family before they even opened the door. Wally told Holly about it in a ditto aided flashback in 2012. The link below points to the beginning of that storyhttp://www.gocomics.com/endtown/2012/03/30
Aaron Marx kind of bothered me at first because he whisked Wally and company away from certain doom and made saving them seem all too easy. Aaron had written the crew into a nasty corner and I was wondering how they would get out. While I was happy that Wally, Holly & company lived, I felt somewhat cheated. The big problem with writing an extremely powerful character like Aaron Marx is that he can easily solve the character’s problems and that can suck the tension and conflict out of a story. That’s why I kind of liked him better in the Flaskback and Milk Trial story arcs, he was still powerful but that power had limits (he couldn’t go with Flask) and he had rules. I kind of felt sorry for Marx in the milk trial, he gave the impression of being unhappy with what he had to do. He many have understood that helping Jacob was “for the greater good” but he didn’t like the short term effects. (or the small minded rabbit.)
Speaking of “things” that seem to know all – how about that pool of water (?) that is called the Oracle. Marx speaks to it and even drinks from it. Is it related to the “Jim-Thing”?Will we see it again?
I was referring to how Wally, Holly, Flask, Linda and the PT were whisked to the Opabinia Queen at the end of the “Countdown” story arc. It kind of bugged me.
Not all gods are defined as deities. We don’t know enough about “I” yet to say what it is, but apparently the “Jim thing” wasn’t at the full extent of its powers.
Western view of religion and spirituality. Not all cultures share this viewpoint, and none of the eastern ones do. Hel never needed to be worshiped or called to do her job of running the underworld. But she was definitely a god by definition.

SYMBOLI-Aaaaahhh! I’m on fire! Aaaah! I’ve combusted from David Lynch levels of symbolism! Which is probably symbolic as well, for being on fire.
