You are responsible for spills. Next time you see a picture of an oil soaked duck, think “I am responsible” I meant to car pool but it was such a hassle. I hate waiting for mass transit. I’ d throw away my leaf blower but I might get blisters from the rake. I’d cut back to one car, but it would be a pain. I’d turn the heat down to 60 but sweaters itch. I’d live closer to my job in the city, but “those people” are in the city. I know my lawnmower is a huge polluter and inefficient use of gas, but hey, what you going to do.What’s another duck or two. It’s the government’s problem, not mine
Right, Lew. My name is BP. Guilt trip the voters. Don’t pay any attention to that guy behind the curtain. We could eliminate cars and wipe out what’s left of the economy in one fell swoop, too. Then no one would be left to buy any gas. Problem solved!
Next time, you may want to look at how the consumption in China has accelerated in the last ten years. Go yell at them.
If Lew is saying that we all share some degree of responsibility, I say he is correct. The ‘government ’ did not adequately oversee the process and, ultimately, we are the government. From a social point of view, we have gotten careless. We have not been good stewards.

Such a simplistic view of life.
You are responsible for unemployment because you buy from Walmart.
You are responsible for over-population because you didn’t have an abortion.
etc. etc.

There’s enough oil in this country that we don’t need to buy foreign anyway. It’s all politics
