The Korean war has never “ended”– so it would only be a new season?

The Korean War wasn’t even a war, for us. It was a “police action.” The participants should feel free to disagree…

Maybe you need to wait for the holiday before you shoot your mouth off, Bruce. :-)

I’m sorry, I’m “ticked”, you’re out of it Bruce. Obama and Shinseki have already done more for our vets than Bush and Cheney even thought about! I have a very difficult time with Memorial Day, and Veteran’s Day- you’re totally off base on this one.

Bruce, not all vets are buried in Arlington ( my grandfather is buried in San Diego and my Dad in Missouri )! Obama will be visiting a site in Illinois for example.

Question, Bruce–were you actively criticizing Bush and his administration DURING their reign?

    I can imagine dtrout was.

I know I did. Consider the continued criticism of that pitiful 8 years our political therapy.

For an avowed centrist, you seem a tad eager to pounce on President Obama from time to time.

Bruce- If you put a seed in the ground and it produces a plant, then flower- you have to trace that back to the action of planting the seed. Placing blame on the bee that pollinates the flower, or the gardener who prunes the shrub to make it “healthier”, or grafts a branch to change the direction, and the fruit produced to a better product, you must still recognize that the seed started it all off.

Bush and Cheney were the seed. Pointing out, instead of obfuscating, where our current problems began, is not “bashing” but merely trying to keep people’s focus on picking the right seed to plant, and not ending up with more weeds. Those who try to make that old putrid flower smell as sweet as the rose, are bad gardeners, but get more press.

Yes, I volunteer on several committees to help my community, I spoke out against the improper or illegal actions of the Cheney administration and then and now, try to aim people at facts and reason, not emotionally charged errors.

Obama has certainly made errors, as have some of his appointees. The difference is that while I TOO criticize those errors, publicly- I try to bring about solutions for the benefit of the “general welfare”. That includes communications with my Senators and Congressman, state and local officials. (Talked to two of my county commissioners yesterday to HELP them in THEIR jobs by providing technical and “political” input. They are both from the “opposing party”, but doing their best to serve, and working very hard, which deserves support and assistance from the ENTIRE community, not more folks throwing rocks at them.)

On your last- YES, change MUST come in the House and Senate- and that MUST INCLUDE a “loyal opposition” that is indeed loyal, to the entire electorate, not just party. In the fall, let us hope folks vote for competence, not contentiousness. It matters not what party candidates are from, if they aren’t competent to do a BETTER job than incumbents, they should NOT be elected on emotion, rather than logic.

Ddid anyone noticed how many wars have we been involved in? What are we trying to sell to the world? Imagine all the money spent on killing and be killed. How many meals for the hungry in the world could we have been able to pay for? Forget Bush-Cheney-Obama… there are more important things to think about. The world is coming to an end, listen to the Mayans, watch the oil spill going on for the next ten years… I’m outa here!

Well Bruce, I tend to think President Obama is going to game the system. Count me among those who still hold out “hope” that he is fed up with the same old same old in DC and at the current time he is maneuvering now to pound some change later.

Granted, the “machine” is a monster, maybe there truly is no hope for change.

If so, that truly is tragic.

Bruce4671 states “I agree that bush/cheney were a terrible pair, living in the past as you do does nothing to make the future a better place. Obama’s action are tearing this country apart”

Bruce, Cheney & Bush did so much damage that we are still dealing with their errors AND WE ARE NOT LIVING IN THE PAST since it affects our present & future! I don’t see one fact that Obama is tearing this country apart! He saved the economy with the stimulus package from going over a cliff!

I don’t think China will allow the U.S. to engage in a war in Korea. America is in no position financially to defy Beijing. China is much to close to Korea and the nuc fallout would be quite a problem especially in the summer. In the winter of course it would be Japan taking the hit. China will allow Korea to use military force to reunify as long as the U.S. doesn’t put up a real struggle. Of course this will still mean lots of dead Americans. I don’t think that will bother Obama a bit. Aside from Iraq or Afghanistan the only proper place for an American President on Memorial Day is Arlington. Some may be willing to cut Obama some slack because he has thrown the Vets a bone or two but personally I have a higher standard. We can hope this is cover to go overseas.

There never was a proposal out of Obama to charge troops for service-connected conditions- apparently some moron MAY have mentioned something, and it was immediatly shot down. I’ve seen VA much more active in providing care in my community (have an appointment Tuesday for my “annual”) and my son is getting much better care from Tricare- and getting set up to retire on disability and VA- things are slow due to the numbers, but he’s getting a LOT more support than two years ago.(Ongoing physical problems and surgeries from “service connected” injuries. Things go boom in Bosnia AND Iraq.)
