Are you sure we're in Alaska? It looks like the same ol airport, the same ol houses, same stores, same cars... Same ol horse standing in the same ol pond. That's a moose. Alaskaaaaaaa!
Plenty of moose here in northern Maine. Wonderful animal, but very dangerous when hit by a vehicle…they are so tall the bulk of their body comes through the windshield.
Driving down the road, there was a moose running in a field along side of us. Pretty neat – maybe we were in Alaska. Thankfully he stayed in the field.
We had a very similar thing happen to us. We were in Alaska and saw a moose in the middle of a park and we yelled out ALASKA. It is an amazing place to visit.
And full grown bull mosquitos weigh two tons. I was stationed in Alaska for two years and had to deal with those suckers! If you see a brown haze in the distance, it’s not smog, it’s mosquitos!
One day I was changing a rain guage chart and when I looked up, I was surrounded by a herd of a few dozen buffalo that were passing through! I hugged that rain guage tight until they passed.
In Europe this animal is called an elk. This causes problems when European hunters come here to hunt. My friend who was a forest ranger said they will often apply for an elk license and then wonder why they are in trouble when they shoot a moose.
Lived in Alaska for 36 years. Drove a small English sports car when we first moved there. On my way to work first Winter there a large bull moose came in front of my car. I stopped with the hood under his belly. He gave me an amused look then jumped over the hood and ambled off. Really enjoyed watching them over the years as we lived in the mountains outside Anchorage and had them on our property all the time.

Only saw two moose when I was in Alaska back in May. Saw 6 Grizzleys, 15 Dall’s Sheep and about 25 Caribou tho . . .

Moose can be pretty ornery too, especially during mating season. They are HUGE.
