Hmm…I’m really not sure if I appreciate the timing here.Given that today IS my birthday…Matt Howarth, of “Those Annoying Post Bros”, did a commission piece for me that has a disturbingly similar theme.
Can anyone identify the counting frame pictured? It isn’t like any abacus or other calculator I am aware of. A single line of beads in at least two colors? I assume it represents years of age or remaining years of life… but I don’t know how to read it. May just be a symbolic representation of a counting device rather than a depiction of an actual instance of such.
With Gurewitch, who really knows what the counting device might mean. It does have a consistent pattern of 3 whites and a (dark). And odd way to count decades. 4 quarters to a year, maybe?But my thoughts about birthdays is that more are better, but I also like to think, “Closer to the End!”
