Transcript:
Dan: This is our last day together at Cartoon Camp. It's a very intense and emotional time, when we celebrate the empowering act of making comics! Thank you all for dressing appropriately! Dan: When I call your name please come forward for the Ceremonial Stapling of Your Final Comic Book Project! Andre: ALL RIGHT! Petey: I feel slightly ill, but in a good way. Loris: This is so awesome! It's like my whole life is flashing before my eyes-ZOOM! Whoa, there it goes again!

What a day for the kids (and their families and friends) to celebrate! YAY, Andre Chang; YAY, Peter Otterloop: YAY, Loris Slothrup! It goes by so fast (as Loris surely knows)!

In response to Richard’s blog entry: You were right, Richard, to keep the background sparse. Busy, busy, busy would have been too much! Re: the stapler: Excellent ploy to emphasize it at the beginning. I have a treasured stapler from my work days. We had such crummy, stupid staplers at work, that I bought a nice one from a big-box office-supply store. It disappeared, then another one did, too. On the third one, I taped the following message, which I had done up in 8-pt. type: “This stapler was purchased by [my name] at Staples on 8/22/96. Please do not appropriate it for your use. It is the third stapler I have bought, and, I hope, the last. Thank you.”

When you’re as young a those kids, it doesn’t take long for your whole life to flash before your eyes. When you get to be my age, it’s so long – and boring – I often fall asleep watching it.

Sign me up! I have a cool stapler that has a built in cellophane tape dispenser on the top of the stapler. I could use an artist from this camp as I like writing the comics but i am not so good at drawing them.

At first I thought Petey was going to be the awkward one there dressing up in his costume, but now I see he fits right in.

I think Loris’s eyes (all 3 of them!) are flashing before her life rather than vice versa.

Calm down, Petey.
