The wind wouldn’t pick us up in the air, however, it became extremely difficult to walk perpendicular to the direction the wind was blowing. One pant leg would blow over to the other leg, which usually caused tangling and tripping. Sometimes the only way to keep standing in strong winds is to take a couple steps, so you can get a better footing, which is difficult if your pant legs are tangled up.
@Rmom, try walking in high winds in a habit–ankle length skirts, plus two ankle-length strips of cloth in front and back that the wind just loves to pick up and wrap around your head…
