Goodnight peeps!! Have to work in the morning. Yay! I left a job 3 weeks ago I worked Mon. & Tues.in hopes that my job on Wed, Thur. and some Fridays would expand to Tuesdays. It was a leap of faith and it seems it’s working out! Whew!! Even better my commute is only a mile from my house as opposed to 15 miles. I was getting weary of driving 30 min each way and putting almost 70 miles a week on my car, and sitting in traffic!! I HAPPY!!!
Here we have ‘Chairman Meow’, an intact Ginger Tom that turned up and was living under the dustbin shelter in my garden in 2004. He was housetrained and friendly, and had a voice you could hear in the next County! He wasn’t very old when he arrived, but unfortunately succumbed to a pre-existing condition, he was with me about six months.
Chairman MeowThese two photos was taken the day after he had had a certain trip to the Vet :-)
This is ‘Moses’, he moved in from a neighbour when he decided living with a dozen other cats was preferable to living with a Two Year Old Toddler! I rehomed him after it became apparent that he was getting stressed by being around so many other cats. He was much happier living with just one other cat :-)
Moses
Moses was with me just over two years, he was renamed ‘Hobnob’ by his new Humans :-)
Queen, when you have a chance, could you please e-mail me detailed steps on how to post a picture? I’ve tried and tried, and just can’t get it right and then I lost the instructions I had written down from stuff Gweedo posted a while back.
Poppy moved in from next door, as you can see she only has one eye. She was being chased by a neighbourhood cat (not one of mine) and got hit by a car, she had a broken jaw and lost one eye. She was the sweetest friendliest cat, and a prolific hunter. Her offering to me a few days before moving in was a dead, bleeding, rat that she hauled trough two cat-flaps and left in a pool of blood in the middle of my kitchen. She disappeared in August 2003, we think she got in a car. These two pictures were taken in March 2003, she would have been about 6 years old.
Here we have Poppy Mk2
Poppy Mk2 was my father’s cat who moved in after my father had a stroke, he’d got her from a Shelter. She was quite young when he got her. She was with me four years, and about nine when the cancer got the better of her. She was a lovely cat who always has a quizzical/calculating look on her face.
Now, what can I tell you about Southwold? Well, not a lot really. She was found as a stray, and I named her after the town she was found in. She was deaf, didn’t seem to want to jump, had a very strong character, and seemed to be quite young. She was very friendly and would curl up on your lap almost before you’d sat down!
She was old, very old.
I had to take her to the vet because she had a large abscess on her chin. During the cleaning procedure it was discovered that she only had two teeth, both yellow. A quick further examination put her age “in the high teens”, this explained the inability to jump, and the deafness. She had been found living rough under a hedge in an area with lots of Senior Citizens living nearby, it’s possible her previous Human had either died or been taken into care and no one knew about the resident cat. A couple of the residents had been feeding her and it was through them that I came to take her in.I only had her four months, she died of old age in my arms towards the end of January 2008. I remember her fondly :-)
Nine Furry-Purrers are enough for one day, I’ll save the rest (twelve in total) for another day :-)
Wanted to let you all know that Paul and I are going to the family cabin for a week. We will be leaving either Thursday night or Friday morning. There is no cell phone or internet there, only a land line, so I will definitely be incommunicado.
That mouse will be in a cat’s tummy before he realizes what is going on. Beautiful cat pictures. There is a reason they don’t have ‘ugly cat’ contests – they are all beautiful. Happy – love the Kliban cat – perfect for today!
@RikkiSince today’s theme is again culinary perhaps you (or someone else) can come up with a tasty rodent recipe for Lily. Don’t hold back…after yesterday’s Tootsie Roll Litterbox cake I don’t think you can outdo yourself (what….a challenge?) Go for it!!!! Could this be what Graham has in mind? Sneaky.@QOAOh…the pic of the 3 foster meowers is the best one yet. Thanks for the post!!!
@MCTS: Very beautiful cats. Thanks for sharing.-——-@29palmsmechanic: You are very welcome, my friend. Beautiful cat and mouse photo. Thanks for posting.-——-@Happy 3: A fitting Kliban Cat. Thanks for posting.-——-Be well my friends.
For all those that are ‘computer literate’ since I have Windows 8.1, I get Windows 10 for free….HOWEVER, It will automatically download tomorrow….I only hope It doesn’t cause a glitch, and cause me to lose vital settings….If I don’t post for a couple of days, you’ll know what happened…
My cats occasionally bring in field mice. The hunter brings one in, bats it around, then lets it loose in the house. The other cat chases it under the furniture, which I have to move out of the way. If he loses track, he finds me and makes me point out the new location. One day a “super mouse” was brought in. He eluded capture by “chimney climbing” between a bookcase and the wall. He stayed wedged there until the cats lost interest and then he escaped.
Mua was a street cat. I rescued him when he was about 6 to 8 months old from a street where my cousin lived. He was very sweet and dog like. He growled at people more than hissing, and came when called. I had him for 14 years. I miss him daily after almost five years.
Love everyone’s cat photos today, nice to see and hear their stories.
I stayed with my parents for a bit when I moved back to the west coast, I’ll never forget my Mum’s reaction to my Figaro – the one fanged wonder – bringing her a present of a still alive but somewhat mangled young rat. Horrified doesn’t even start to describe it :)
The Late Great Toshie was a HUNTER, from the Crow she dragged thru a cat door, across the garage, up 6 stairs, in the house and upstairs to our bedroom, where she let it go. It had been in the blueberries and my curtains and wall were covered in blueberry poop. To the 2 foot long snake, I almost stepped on when I got out of bed one morning, Then there was the hummingbird, we had to remove the skylight from the living room ceiling to get it out, The robin in the kitchen, (they are not happy about being in the house) and more voles than I can count. Never killed any of them! She was tiny, only 8 pounds at her top weight. She was born in a vacant lot, and a woman found them, their mom got hit by a car. She was hanging on the side of the cage, yelling at us at the Pound, and she looked like a fruit bat! She was my third Tortie and my companion of the night, I couldn’t bear to have another cat after she died at the age of 20.
This was my mighty hunter Figaro aka Pooky bear. He lost a leg to bone cancer at nearly 16 yrs old but 3 days post surgery was hopping around the vet’s as if he’d always had 3 legs. They truly are resilient creatures :)
Thank you so much for the beautiful stories/tragic happenings of your pets. It helps to know others have lost their soul mate kitties in sad ways. I know I’m not the only one. It helps..as do the pictures. Thank you, All
Great cat pictures today! I wish I could post a picture of my late tuxedo “Fanny” (named before I took her because of her cute “Pouncy Butt”) Maybe I can send the picture to Gweedo when he gets home and he can post it for me. I’m not real computer literate like some of you. I’ve seen the equation y’all use but it doesn’t compute to me. Thanks again to everyone who wished me happy birthday yesterday. It really made my day. Had to show husband all the cool wishes and pictures. Especially the litter box cake. Hugs Rose >^..^<
