NOOOOOOO!!!!!! (I still have well over 500 albums, and over 500 45s, with a working turntable. I hate seeing record abuse, particularly hip-hop artists “scratching”.)
Problem is getting the old equipment worked on when it breaks down. The motor control circuitry on one of my old direct drive turntables died, and can’t be repaired, and the stylus in my other turntable is broken. And, natch, replacement stylii are no longer made. Two first class, beautiful condition (but inoperable) 40 year old turntables……. ;-(
My husband and I still have quite a large collection of vinyl, mostly big band and 50’s R&R. Don’t take the time to play them anymore, though. Always something else to do.
I still have 33 1/3 rpm albums, and some 45s. Most notably, one is a “Beatles ’65” album, with a line on the back describing the record, saying “It cannot become obsolete.”
Vinyl records, 8-tracks, cassettes, VCRs, floppy disks, three-and-a-half inch kets… no good anymore..And technology is supposed to be limitless?

We used to do that with old records that had too many scratches and were no longer playable.
