“Ghoti” is a famous alternative spelling for the word “fish”.
Gh as pronounced in the word “enough”.
O as pronounced in the word “women”.
Ti as pronounced in the word “nation”.
Who axed?
English is a weird language.
But at least we only have 1 word for ‘the’, not one that’s masculine, 1 that’s feminine, and one that’s neutral.
