Sales people in upscale retailers tend to be a bit snooty if you don’t look or dress in the manner in which they think you should. They automatically think you can’t afford the merchandise. I stopped in a furniture store shortly after moving into our current house. We were at a car cruise and I thought I would check out their stuff. Well, the sales clerk assumed car people are all a bunch of white trash low lifes and was quite rude to me. Wel, the house we bought had more room than previous homes and I had three rooms to furnish. Needless to say, their competition got my business. I played in a band with the store owner’s wife and told her why. I also told my friends about the experience, some of whom could buy the business without blinking an eye. There is a lot of money in the classic car crowd.
