You mean everyone isn’t going to give up their gas guzzling, air polluting, symbols of affluence just because of this spill? You mean the Prez isn’t going to use this to waste billions on unproven technology that might make the world a better place, or not?But. but but. on TV he said he was going to put a priory on green energy even if it meant bankrupting America. I expect to see daisies emitted from tailpipes in my lifetime.

Doggonnit, I usually support the President, but if Lewreader is right, and the President is going to put a priory on green power, then I just can’t back that one. It’ll probably be that doggone Priory of Sion from the Da Vinci Code!

Gas guzzlers, air polluters, ozone destroyers, forest annihilators, overfishing, absorbtion of carcinogenic chemicals, water pollution, and now Gulf of Mexico destruction by crude oil are today’s planet Earth. But don’t take my gas guzzling vehicles or my petroleum created products away!

So in 1973 we had strong evidence that depending so heavily on petroleum was a national weakness. After 35+ years, it would be nice to finally start fixing this known problem. (Beyond throwing a lot of ineffective subsidy money at corn producers.)
