I was sometimes taken to a nice restaurant, in part as deportment training. The restaurant was very patient, even when I spilled a glass of milk on their wine red carpet.
You ever notice that modern actors seem to mumble a lot? They don’t maintain regular levels either. Directors call it realism. I call is sloppy, but what do I know? I do agree, the pre-1960’s movies had much better sound from the listeners point of view.
I see I’m not the only one who noticed that since a certain time, maybe three decades, when the newer and younger people became the important stars, their voices are very sloppy.
It all has to do with not having proper lessons in elocution. Actors used to be trained by professional voice teachers. The ones that came from theatre still have that training.
No, it doesn’t have anything to do with my hearing. It’s still perfect.
The other reason is that the movies stress “sound” as meaning all the background noises and music, and all the gimics that are associated with making “sound” stand out, what with all the technology out there, and not the speaking people’s voices.

How can you hear anyone talk at a movie. The sound is so loud, I put cotton in my ears.

Does Allison Barrows get up earlier some mornings than others and have more time to spend on the artwork, such as today?
