I remember the day I was babysitting (late 1980s, so no cell phones) and the parents had a car break down so they didn’t get home until 4am. I made $700 that night. Of course, a regular night was $200. Dad was a neurosurgeon, mom was a surgical nurse and they had a sensitive little boy that they didn’t want to see bullied by a babysitter. The fact that I was soft voiced and would happily play with his TMNT toys with him meant I was invaluable to the parents.
