This reminds me of my childhood. My older sister and my mom had almost the exact same conversation and the exact same outcome. Sure made an impression on the rest of us. FWIW, my sister turned out to be a wonderful adult serving her community till her retirement last year.
I know for a fact if my mother had a daughter and she lost her mind enough to tell her ‘shut up’ the slap she would of got would of knocked her the hell out and mom wouldn’t be crying she would of stepped over her and went about her day.

Both of you deserve a lecture. Never hit a child and Jeri get rid of that attitude. I hope you learned something.

I wonder what would’ve happened if I’d ever told my mother to shut up. I thought it a lot but I would never have dared to say it!

I said “bull” to my dad-once. BIG mistake.

I’d say the mom and the daughter were both surprised by their actions.

Don’t you cry, Tess. You gave Jeri what she deserved – and asked for.
