I find it amazing that the contestants are willing to take the risks. The diseases they stand a good chance of getting could have life-long consequences. And athletes (used to) pride themselves on well-tuned bodies.
What am I missing ? Triathlon aside, what sports require olympic athletes to swim in rivers or oceans ? Rowing and boating are events where you don’t want to wind up in the drink. What else is there ?Diving and swimming competitions are held in pools, si ?Chlorine will take care of any problems there. I am all too aware of how polluted the Brazilian water is but I still am not sure why all the fuss.

Get ready to puke. Go to Youtube and search on Polluted water in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. There are videos from AP, BBC and CCTV. Thanks, IOC!
