"The late night picnic...a return to romanticism! A homemade feast held snugly in a woven basket...the moon and stars provide ambiance! No crowds...no interruptions and no technology... Except for a brief moment of cellphone illumination while serving the coleslaw!

In the dark, best to keep the food covered and check your plates once in a while. Crunchiness in the mashed potatoes is not a good thing. We once made taco filling and soon discovered a few lady bugs (well camouflaged) had been cavorting in it: “What’s that stuck in my back teeth? Yuck!”

emptc12From flour weevils on up, beetles generally have bitter taste. Apparently you have the same problem with Orion (which is only visible half the year). I like Mintaka, the last star in Orion’s belt to rise and set. It is only twelve minutes south of the equator, so rises in sets almost due east and west – useful when Polaris is clouded over.

I’d love to have a midnight picnic. But we live in Florida. If the ants don’t carry us off, the mosquitoes will.

But kerosene is flammable and might be difficult to carry. The light on the phone works just fine. They can turn it off for a more romantic moment :)

Rose and Jimbo are so romantic. They’re still in love and it shows. Too bad life isn’t like that. Maybe for some, but not for most.
