In other words, Dad doesn’t know the answer. Also that the boy should pay more attention in class.

Tony and Bev the kiddy teacherMath as taught by my Dad was mysterious, He had his own methods, totally unlike those taught in any school!English was my mother’s doing, She gave me loads of books and I read everything I could get my hands on. English Major in college and taught.

    Hopefully I speak both…. to a degree.

No, not a degree in math…I’m not that fluent.

Bev… and now you wait for ME.

2Old… are you sure that wasn’t my Dad teaching you?

Mine taught me some of his own methods too… unfortunately, most of them were wrong.

I had to unlearn them, but then for years it was hard to remember which was Dad’s way and which the correct way.

Reminds me of when they tried to introduce the metric system in school waaaay back when. The schools all determined, across the country, that it wasn’t going to work because the parents couldn’t help the kids understand their homework. So he we are stilling using the standard system, which is okay. Nothing wrong with being different, right?

Did you answer your kids’ questions, or did your spouse/SO?

We tried to help them solve questions on their own…

All the tough (sex ed.) questions seemed to get asked when the kids and I were driving. Se me (in the front seat) trying to drive the car and explain the reproductive system to two in the back seat. I’m serious, they were probably trying to stifle their giggles!

There three kinds of people: those that are good at math, and those that aren’t.
