To continue terrifying memories of difficult airports, there’s always San Diego. Coming in from the east you get to look sideways into hotel windows at folks catching a quickie before plopping down on the runway and slamming on the brakes. Coming in from the water is a bit more exciting because of the high bluff at then end of the runway. I remember coming in from Tucson on a small turboprop—the fuselage was about the diameter of a large trash can—and they had left the cockpit door open so we could hear everything. Standard stuff until the radar altimeter sensed the bluff ahead and began screaming “Pull up, pull up” over and over. All you could see out of the front windows was the bluff. Obviously we landed OK but it was tense.
PacoPuddy… well, depending upon what a “quickie” means in the UK, I think so….
And Mikie, I certainly would be surprised to see even ONE couple catching a quickie, and then plopping down on the runway when they “put on the brakes.” (wink, wink?)

There’s a lot about Jerry that’s insufficient, I believe. And being “short” of cash is just one of them.

Insufficient funds? Jerry’s the kind that thinks he CAN’T be out of money because he’s still got cheques in the chequebook! GAH!
