@ JUST SO SO, from yesterday: I am so sorry. I know many working moms, single and married, whose homes are models of peace and order; and whose children are well-raised and happy. My comment was supposed to be on how out-of-kilter we’ve gotten, and on how often children are not more important than the store. I am so sorry to have given insult and injury where none was intended.

I just want to say how refreshing your depiction of Phoebe’s family is. As you stated in some interview somewhere, you didn’t want to go down the old cartoon road of the parents and kids having an adversarial relationship. While it always reliably breeds humor, it does feel done to death and its ubiquitousness can feel a bit bleak at times. As you put it, Phoebe’s parents are her allies, not her adversaries. And it’s just so nice to see that in a comic strip once in a while.
