Except that the job market is growing, and people with college degrees are still much more likely to obtain jobs. Education’s not a panacea, but it sure helps.
I’m sharing this strip with my teacher colleagues. Our first generation kids struggle to get to college, are successful when they get there, and give back to their community/family with the always GREAT jobs they fight for & get. Get a clue, naysayers.
Ever notice that the people who complain about the stagnant job-market are usually the same ones who vote for politicians that support union-bashing, outsourcing and job-exporting (i.e.- the vulture capitalists)
Now if they can just graduate without ah huge financial burden that may take decades to pay off….
Exactly. Which is why efforts by groups like I AM NOT A LOAN (.org) are important. As are the current ideas from some Democrats to guarantee debt-free schooling for public university undergrads. Used to be that CUNY was completely free, and that free education helped create a huge number of highly educated, highly productive people.
