Because what many people call “friends” are people who’d vanish in a heartbeat if you have a problem that needs dealing with…and subconsciously, most people know it. I had a zillion “friends” and then my mother had a stroke. Know how many were left after? One.A phone was more use than all those others.
Thirteen years ago, I fell and broke my hip. It wasn’t until a long time after I had healed that I learned that many people die from breaking a hip. Glad I didn’t know that at the time. It took four months to heal. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. So please don’t be flip about anyone falling — and don’t laugh until you see her get up and laugh with you.

Falling from an altitude is tragic but falling from level is funny, why? perhaps because we know chances of getting hurt is almost nil.
