Just for the sake of argument, we shouldn’t assume this is a Roman Catholic priest – at least not based on what’s in this particular strip. Lots of clergy from various denominations wear collars like that. Besides, RCs more often have a crucifix, not a cross.
Still, it’s a delicate situation, and to simply say that’s what having faith means is simplistic.
I wonder what Dear Prudence would say…. I’m tempted to email her with “my friend has a problem and I don’t know what to advise her” but I’m too full of ennui on a Sunday to rise about just typing this comment….
I hate to stand up for either Tad or Drew, Neither will make the virtue top ten. Why did they get married? Did Drew want to marry a doctor, any doctor. Did Lila not warn Drew that Tad hit on her before the wedding? Drew dismissed that because it might get in the way with her marrying a doctor. Drew just wants to be introduced as Dr. Tad’s wife and perhaps she wants financial security. Now don’t get mad ladies, but sometimes a woman will have a child a little before scheduled to tie down her man. I’m not saying she did, but birth control medication has been conveniently misplaced from time to time. Tad may be a scoundrel, but she may accept that for the benefits. Who can cast stones?
Actually, scriptural-organizational hoopla aside, Lila is beginning to seem more mature and the advice given is quite on-the-mark. Often, telling a truth To someone who doesn’t really want to hear it is a waste of breath…

if you are not an Episcopalian, then you have no clue and are talking about what you don’t know. If you are an Episcopalian, then you admit you don’t know much of anything. Either way, you do not speak for Episcopalians.
I commented that the minister’s remarks are inappropriate, and I am an Episcopalian. If you want a quick statement of what we believe, just read the Apostles and Nicene Creeds.

I think Lila has grossly misunderstood what Father’s Day is supposed to mean.
