Wow… that last line about the store closing in 4 hours was a tad bit harsh! Just in case you were wondering, I spent some time with my good friend, Joel yesterday evening. We were sitting around, smoking a few bowls of vanilla tinctured burley leaf in our pipes, and Joel kindly enough shared his jug with me and I took a few, deep swigs. He told me, that he would be more than willing to help out old Skeezix with his stove issue. Joel says he could have figured out one way or another to get the old stove back up to snuff in no time. It is too bad that Skeezix hasn’t thought of calling Joel for help and advice.
If none of the valves turn on, check the in line gas valve, the in line regulator, and that you have paid your gas bill. If any of them light with a lighter, check the ones that don’t work for food spilled onto the igniter, into the holes on the burner and into the supply tubes. Run a pin into all of the holes and into the valve orifice.
Skeezi. is smart to measure. We bought a washer a few years ago and found that the new ones were about half an inch wider than the old ones that just fit the space. To make it fit, I had to rip out the sheetrock and put in 1/8 masonite. Ir’s still a tight fit.
Gweedo… very true, sir! Joel would be more successful in most of his endeavors if bumbling Rufus weren’t underfoot. But, that would never happen, IMO, for Joel is too kind and tolerant of a fellow. He befriends Rufus, because Rufus needs the guidance, the support, the camaraderie, and the advice that Joel gives. As a scholar and humanitarian, Joel does not have a single selfish bone in his body. Selfishness is just not a part of his visage.

I bet I know who he gets for the sales rep at the store. Any takers?

Now when he goes to hook up the new stove he’ll discover that the gas valve in back was shut off.

I have a feeling that we are about to re-visit past Jack Benny salutes!
