Frank Nelson was a popular foil for Ball, Benny and yes he appeared occasionally on The Great Gildersleeve as well. The role of Throckmorton Philharmonic Gildersleeve was originally portrayed by Harold Peary and later by Willard Waterman.
Hah! He is back!!!! The salesman from hell! Actually, I really enjoy the way Jim draws and has this fellow act. Like others said, he is a perfect rendition of this classic type from 50s tv!!!!Skeezix is in for the ride of his life with this fellow. How will Skeezix respond though? Will he be bamboozled into getting some monstrosity that extravagant beyond belief? Will he pay top dollar for a used stove being passed off as new? It will be interestingI was once again sitting on the back porch, with my friend, our hero/philosopher Joel, this past yesterday evening. I was enjoying chatting with him, and enjoyed sharing a few bowls of pleasantly strong, blueberry-infused burley pipe tobacco as well. Unfortuantely, this time Joel forgot the jug, but I brought out a nice bottle of bourbon I had in the kitchen, and we enjoyed a few fingers of that elixer instead. Joel told me he felt a bit dismayed, in that it appears that Skeezix is not even considering calling him for help with repairing the old stove. He is sure he would be able to set this situation right, a whole heckuva lot easier and faster than “Mr. Salesman” will. I told Joel that I agree with him whole-heartedly.

He, single handedly, made Montgomery Ward and Circuit City the stores they are today.

Skeezix and Nina should go to another store. Buying a stove from that ‘man’ would not be a good idea.

Hey, Joe! Why do you keep bringing back that schmuck (a.k.a., the Frank Nelson wannabe), just to torment Skeezix?
