Applesauce was the first food consumed in outer space- by John Glenn in 1962. Laos' Mekong River eel wine is made from ginseng root, herbs and River eels to be fermented for a year before serving. Shhhhh! Originally intended as fish food at an aquarium in Japan, a tiny goldfish escaped its faith by hiding in a tank's filtration system for 7 years!

One usually thinks of Goldfish as dumb, not this fish!

I’ll bet that applesauce would have gone well with a glass of River Eel wine.

Why do think that can be re-written as, “tiny goldfish trapped in filtration system for seven years.”
Unless they have proof it hid when the nets came out.

I’m going to go with not believing this one.
Wikipedia indicates that in 1961, Soviet Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin ate three 160 g toothpaste-type tubes, which contained two servings of puréed meat and one of chocolate sauce.
Gherman Titov spent over 24 hours in space before Glenn made his flight, so he probably ate something too.
