First off, you have to believe in an omnipotent, all- seeing, all knowing,-—————————————Would you prefer Mother Nature? Demeter, the goddess of the harvest? The forest spirits?Stop me when I reach one to your liking.
Perhaps if you lived in an unpopulated desert with no internet connection you’d be spared the trouble of responding to what you consider such inane ramblings.
Wonderful how white kids in the ‘burbs’ get colorful leaves, kids in Bed-Stuy get concrete & random bullets, kids in Raqqa get Daesh, kids in the Sahel get famine, & kids in Bangladesh get floods. Isn’t it wonderful how Dog works in its mysterious way… and isn’t it amazing how Dog’s apologists get their panties in a bunch when reality intrudes on their Christian supremacist fantasies? Please folks, a litter reality-testing… Dog (by whatever name) is just a myth!
Belief in God is easy. It takes effort to deny Him. Your second point is not valid. The world is self-sustaining and repeats its cycles every year. No maintenance required. He set it up that way.
Or it could be (more than likely) leaves are always colorful, but you couldn’t see it because all the green (chlorophyll) hid it from you. When plants no longer need green (because they’re not going to use it over the winter) they stop making it: Green leaves leaves in the winter.
Plants don’t use flowers to feed themselves, so the flowers don’t have green in the first place.
If things (like grass) turn brown, it’s because there aren’t any other colors for you to see.
Of course, if God created the beauty of fall colours then he’s also responsible for Acanthamoeba Keratitis, a parasite that burrows into eyeballs blinding children so they can’t see the beauty that this man-made god created. You can’t attribute only the good things to god without also blaming him for the bad. The best thing about God is that he doesn’t exist.

When I lived in Vancouver, there was a provincial Minister of Forestry named “Flying Phil” Gialardi (the flying part came from his use of public aircraft to fly to fundamentalist conventions all over North America). He said, “There are only two things you can do with a tree – cut it down or worship it.” Oxygen recharge, soil retention, temperature stabilization, aesthetics, sap production in several species, wind resistance, sustainable firewood, fruits and nuts, and a whole bunch more, never entered his narrow little brain..Noneof YourbusinessAnd from the same God, intelligence to deal with it; but we rather spend our resources on new ways to kill each other and bomb hospitals instead.
I HATE fall—here in So Cal that’s the start of Santa Ana season, and the fall winds are the worst. Today it got up to 107 degrees and 11% humidity (according to the Nat. Weather Service) with everything dry and brown from the drought. I envy those people who get to enjoy a beautiful, COOL fall

Lynn’s Notes:
I had so many wonderful letters about this strip. Sometimes, we have to be reminded to count our blessings.

It’s like God has taken a paint brush to the trees, isn’t it? I love it! Too bad the leaves can’t stay on the trees!
