I remember when my small son brought home his first pumpkin I encourage him when he brought it is very small to tiny. We could do nothing with it. He was in preschool.
We bought those decorative gourds for our g’children. The gnardly round ones are the size of a large fist. I gave them black magic markers and they drew faces on them. It was so much fun watching them. Nice thing about all of it is that the marker could be washed off, and they could start all over again, until, in the end they had a face that they wanted to keep and take home with them and put them on their porch…
