Oh, boy do I ever feel his pain! I hate self-serve stuff with lousy instructions and too many buttons (and I’m from Generation Y!)

    Morning, Marg!

Claude should be happy that she just lols – the alternative being her occupying the bathroom for any length of time, keeping her feet warm and reading the paper.

Poor Albert. This machine was a trial even before he forgot his glasses.

Cleo, you are not going to get any doggy treats that way.

Tough for some, anyway. Comuterized telephone systems with their menu options drive me crazy when all you want is to talk to one of the staff.

    Welcome!

And Happy Father’s Day… to anyone who IS a father, or ever wanted to be a father, or who ever acted as one…

regardless of age or gender, especially if you had to be father and mother both….

and regardless of the species in your care.

If I left anybody out… please let me know, so I can include your category. I believe in sharing.

    We’re here to comment on

the June 20th  2020 “CLEO and COMPANY”, on Sherpa…

Where Claude finds out, and not for the first time, just how much Cleo cares about Father’s Day.

Every day is Cleo Day, to some people…. er… I mean some dogs.

Does she even consider Claude… even if not her father… her “Daddy?”

I’ve never heard either of the humans in the Clifford family say anything like “Come to Mommy” or “Give it to Daddy.”

Perhaps they don’t think that way, in which case I guess Cleo wouldn’t either.

When I was young, my parents secretly made fun of people who did that, so I felt that way too…

Until, of course, I had my own pets, who called me “Mommy”…. no, not out loud…. but I heard it.

I once did a small survey, mostly of friends and family… asking “What does your dog call you?”, so I wouldn’t influence the answer.

Most of them immediately said “Mommy” or “Daddy” or the equivalent… like “Papa”, etc.

Strangely, the most negative reactions came from within my own family….

My sister didn’t understand the question. “Why would they call me anything? They don’t speak.”

    My brother said “Master”!

His wife and his ex-wife both said their dogs called them by their first names…. his ex adding… “But they know I’m alpha.”

    Sigh….

The real reason why Cleo is laughing is because their newspaper went out of business and went straight to digital. The other reason is because Claude gives her the money to pay the girl who delivered the newspaper who no longer delivers the newspaper because she bought the digital paper and runs it herself. She lives next door with the evil cat. Cleo doesn’t know that.

Forgot, yesterday, to wish everyone a happy Summer Solstice….

or whatever one is supposed to say for the event.

    I admit, it’s a day that confuses me…

They call it the “official” beginning of summer…

    but according to who?

I’ve read that “meteorological summer” begins either in mid-May, or June 1st, depending on the source.

If you’re a kid, and you got out of school June 1st…. by golly it’s summer on that day.

And to make it more complicated, the ancient holiday of “Midsummer Day” is June 24th.

Pretty short “first half” of Summer if it goes from June 20th to 24th, right?

Besides… if the Solstice marks the beginning of the glorious summer season…

a celebration of the coming of sunlight, and long summer nights….

why does it occur just as the nights begin to grow shorter, marking their turn towards the darkness of winter?

That’s why it’s sad, for me!

It’s the Winter Solstice that turns towards the light.

    Let’s see… quick notes….

I answered some people yesterday, just in case you don’t go back…. Nighthawks… StelBel…

Oops, I see that Nighthawks already saw his reply…

Oh… and GerardD… but I believe that was on the day before… hope you see it…

Plods, someplace before that…. probably too late, and I don’t remember where! (Helpful, right?)

I just post these reminders cos my hours are so weird… sometimes I reply long after you’d think to go back.

I don’t know whether all of you check your GoComics reminders… I do, but they leave some things out.

… and on a tablet or a phone, it’s easy to delete them all unintentionally…. so if I didn’t answer you someplace, that could have happened…. sorry!

    Late again… g’night all!

Well, summer may have started, but you couldn’t tell it by our weather. We finally went to a restaurant yesterday for a Father’s Day dinner and when we came out, there was a rain storm. I’m with Cleo~~rolling on the floor laughing~~at ridiculous expectations. (actually, I’m not rolling on the floor as I’d never be able to get up).

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers…..and all those others that SusanSunshine talked about.

Hey, Claude…….get off your duff and get your own newspaper and slippers. Just because it’s Father’s Day, do you expect Clara to make you breakfast, too?

Happy Father’s Day to all our Cleo family.

I always thought Moxie had an itchy back when she rolls on the floor like that. You mean she’s been laughing at me all this time?

re: Ballard Street. Looks like the instructions on the machines at the laundromat.
