I remember when I started working at Penn Central RR. One of the guys I worked with told me never to date any of the women in the office. When I asked why, he said that my name would be “up on the bulletin board the next day”.

I was a “Big Brother” (their term) to a women’s social group in college. I made the mistake of dating (casually) a couple of the members.

As the warming trend continues, (and it will), more people will move North (in the US). Cleveland, with its now refreshed lakefront and three rivers will be selling water to the South and Midwest, as will Chicago, Milwaukee and other “North Coast” cities. Cleveland, with its fine parks, beautiful Classic houses and wheel spoke roadways will attract those who will found new businesses and fund better schools, law enforcement, etc. Cedar Point, Blossom Music Center, Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, Case-Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University, John Carroll University, Chagrin Falls, Shaker Heights, Fairmont Blvd, Shaker Lakes, Old Brooklyn, Lakewood, Rocky River, on-and-on. Warmer weather will modify the now brutal Winters and Cleveland will be laughing all the way to the Bank! Just sayin’. Ps, yes, I am an ex Clevelander (who may just be right)!

From Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn:

Kirk: Kirk to Enterprise.Spock: Spock here.Kirk: Captain Spock, damage report.Spock: Admiral, if we go “by the book”. like Lieutenant Saavik, hours could seem like days.Kirk: I read you captain. Let’s have it.Spock: The situation is grave, Admiral. We won’t have main power for six “days”. Auxiliary power has temporarily failed. Restoration may be possible, in two “days”. By the book, Admiral.Kirk: Meaning you can’t even beam us back?Spock: Not at present.Kirk: Captain Spock, if you don’t hear from us within one hour, your orders are to restore what power you can, take the Enterprise to the nearest star base, and alert Starfleet Command as soon as you’re out of jamming range.Commander Nyota Uhura: Sir, we won’t leave you behind!Kirk: Uhura, if you don’t hear from us, there won’t be anybody behind. Kirk out.

Forgot to mention; Hiking, Water Skiing, close to Snow Skiing (not very high hills, however), Motocross, near to Auto Racing tracks, Drag Racing close by, Horse Racing, NFL Football, Major League Baseball, Tennis and Ice Skating Acadamies, Old Money in Hunting Valley with Polo Field and Dressage competitions, New Money in Pepper Pike with major Bank Leadership and Classic Cars, Western Reserve Historical Society and Crawford Auto Museum, History making Steel and Oil Refining Industries, Major WW2 supplier for Beryllium, High Carbon Steel for Bearings, Huge WartimeTank Plant, Fisher Body GM Auto and Wartime Vehicle supplier, Ford Motor Co. engine plant, Leader in Automotive companies, including the early Baker Electric motorcar co. Cleveland-born Beer Producers, on-and-on. Cleveland Fans are among the most Loyal in any State and do not forsake their teams during slumps (of which there are many). You have to be TOUGH to be a Clevelander! Greater Cleveland is a major source of revenue to all levels of government. It’s not just Cuyahoga County anymore but six other counties combined that constitutes Greater Cleveland. Yes, Cleveland DOES laugh at the burning river, moans at the “almost won” pennants and playoff games. “Red Right 88” will never disappear, but, there’s always next year! Just sayin.

Adding on; world reknown Natural History Museum and Archiological Team, World Reknown Museum of Art, Unique Music venue Severance Hall, multi-level Trade Show venue, Public Auditorium and Music Hall with back-to-back Stage layout for Circuses and large events, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Tiffany Glass and I.M. Pei architechture, Major and luxury Hotels, Excellant Marina’s for Sailing and Motor craft, International Airport. Other cities may have “plusher” and more successful venues, teams and celebrity but the people of Cleveland have the Heart and Soul it takes to retake the lead in the long run. Just sayin’
