Titans Man: I don't think anchor babies should get citizenship! Cuco: So you think all U.S. citizen anchor babies should be stripped of their citizenship? Man: Yeah, that's why they call them "anchor babies," because they anchor their illegal alien parents! Cuco: No, they call them "anchor babies" because the very first ones' parents came on ships like the Mayflower.

In 1868, just a few years after the end of the Civil War with its 600,000+ casualties and the abolition of slavery, maybe folks thought the U.S. wasn’t looking like such an attractive destination for immigrants.

Children of “Citizens of other countries” born in another country have dual citizenship. That of “Where they’re born” and “Where their parents are citizens.” That’s why Obama qualified for President even IF he was born outside the US.

And who are those babies to demand they have parents to care for them? Let them fend for themselves, just as we demand of all other US citizens!

Lalo’s point about the Mayflower is irrelevant as the Pilgrims were British subjects. There was no such thing as American citizenship until July 1776.
