    @patticake No. That has some people in a dither.The official reason (the one that ignores any money under the table) is that since every organism on the planet is genetically modified from what it used to be [by nature, or by farmers gradually changing it by selection, or by scientists making the changes to an existing ‘seed’], then every manufacturer could label every food product as GMO; so you still wouldn’t know any more than if they don’t have to label. So, @jbmlaw, yes, you are correct.@Bruno – yes! (but maybe the second line should be ‘Are you, or somebody you are cooking for, gluten intolerant?’)
