What a lot of people don’t realize is that China has a substantial Muslim population, in the western part of their country. That could conceivably give the Chinese a leg up here…but it could also come back to bite them if the Taliban sees China’s Muslim population as fertile ground for spreading their gospel.

The Chinese have been VERY GOOD at establishing business relations in Africa, Asia and elsewhere. One of their primary “secrets of success”- is recognizing the LOCAL cultures they’re moving into, and treating them with “respect” or at least “local rules”. Our companies come in and say “my way or the highway”. (Or we’ll drop bombs on you if you don’t let us in, or maybe hire a private army.)

They are, however, very good at ensuring they have access to raw materials & resources they need for their rapid development.

The Chinese government behaves badly everywhere, including their own country.
