Devonshade, while I’m sympathetic with your remarks, I’m curious as to the last time you opened up your kitchen in the middle of the night for anyone to come in and eat. If they had asked her, she’d have probably fixed a really good pie & maybe a bunch of sandwiches for them too, as well as finding them some work to do around the place to earn it. Would you do that? If you do, then I’m so grateful for you, but if you don’t, then your words ring a little hollow. And how do you know that the rest of us would want to bash their brains in? You are making just as big of an assumption about “the rest of you,” as you accuse Gertie of making about poor people.
Get on your cell Gertie and call the cops for breaking and entering and theft. If you don’t, they’re a hard bunch to get rid of and will keep on hurting the Wallet family by stealing.

I think what could have had happen to Joe-Allen is he could have even worse problems with his computer. Since a few weeks ago he was absent for a couple of days and came back saying he had computer problems and still wasn’t quite fixed enough yet.
Devon, these aren’t “poor people” who are being portrayed as stupid, they are con men and thieves. They have been in the strip before, when they attempted to tunnel under the street in order to break into a bank vault, and threatened Skeezix when he stumbled onto them. The fact that they broke into Walt’s house and have apparently been living in the attic long enough for the excess water usage to show up on his utility bill removes any sympathy for them whatsoever. To state that they have done no harm to Walt is wrong. Sure, she should “send them on their way”. Straight to jail. Again.

ORteka, jollyjack, et al, I don’t see any trace of Joe Allen in the archives. I only follow Gasoline Alley on this site, but I never saw anything here that would earn him banishment.

I think that Joe-Allen Doty was banned. I think that it was for getting too many flags. I flag EVERY spam message that I see on these boards, and it seems that nothing happens!
But, some people have been flagging Joe, and I think he was banned for that. I have never flagged a commenter for different viewpoints. I have twice flagged someone for outright cussing that was uncalled for. Just today, someone on “Calvin and Hobbs” stirred up a firestorm of flagging by using bad language.
Joe has a different viewpoint from mine, but I agree to disagree (politely!). He was NEVER crude or profane, and I MISS JOE-ALLEN DOTY! I loved all the back and forth reader comments. It was entertaining.
Check out usfellers on “Ginger Meggs” a couple of days ago. He seems to be the only one in the loop. I’m only posting my surmises, not actual facts.
We can also contact the moderators on Joe’s behalf (I just did); since he’s been fired, it shouldn’t hurt, maybe help. I always found Joe to be honest and often interesting (even in his ObviousMan cape), if a bit long-winded at times.
GeneralMod was usually on top of these things. How does one contact the moderators? I think the system has gone awry if repeatedly calling the artist a hack and implying he’s a Nazi is tolerated, but long-windedness is not. Joe contributed to the community with opinions and information.
